CORRUPTED Artworks

Process breakthrough
You can glitch images by applying transformations to their raw image data. It means you can apply filters using an audio processing softwere to “destroy” an image.
That beeing said I needed an audio processing softwere. Audacity is free and works quite well for glitching images.
Then I needed a databending-friendly image. I used .bmp format and it worked well for this type of beding.
To convert a .jpg or .png image to .bmp you can simply open it with Paint app (on Windows) and save it as .bmp file.
I imported my .bmp image file in Audacity as “Raw Data import” encoded as “U-Law”. The image is now open as an audio file. Press Play to hear glitchy noises and make your ears cry.
I selected some portion of the waveform and appliyed audio filters to it: Echo, Reverb, Reverse, Wahwah, Invert etc. worked fine to me, avoid using time transformation filters. Also avoid filters at the beginning of the file as this contains the file header, a section of the file which contains information needed to display the image. You can see the waveform changing but you’ll never expect how it will affect the final image so you’re playing blind mode and it’s fun.
Once finished applying filters I exported the audio file as .png, “other uncompressed files”, RAW file “U-Law” encoded.
